News – January 2017

Happy New Year from No resolutions but I have tried to start 2017 with renewed efforts to press on.

I’m into my third week of the Futurelearn course “Genealogy – Researching Your Family Tree”. It’s going well, both studying the prepared material and corresponding with fellow genealogists.

I’ve signed up for the Guild of One-Name Studies Conference and AGM at the end of March. If it’s anything like the previous two I attended I’ll emerge with renewed enthusiasm and a batch of new ideas and contacts. There’s a session on DNA which I’m sure will help me to make progress and talks with a definite nautical theme. They include P&O Heritage, the seagoing exploits of the Mewburns family, the Royal Navy in Malta,  migration to the Southern Seas, coastal communities, migration and the London Dock Police.

I’ve been working on improvements to the web site to improve the look and add more content. I hope you’ve noticed the difference.

………………….and on we go. See you in February.
